Salon de la Guerre is the musical project of writer and filmmaker Eric Randolph Rasmussen. The music is a mix of lo-fi rock, no-wave punk rock, American primitive guitar, classical music, country and pop, inspired by such groups as the Velvet Underground, Sonic Youth, Patti Smith, Sleater-Kinney, Frank Zappa, John Fahey and the Rolling Stones.
Rasmussen’s music often includes both computer generated sounds and instrumental performances. On various Salon de la Guerre recordings, Rasmussen can be heard playing electric and acoustic guitar, bass guitar, alto saxophone, piano, synthesizer, banjo, lap steel guitar and drums. He produces most of his music in Apple’s GarageBand and Logic Pro X, though his early work through 2015 was created on Cubase LE.
While Rasmussen performs on and produces most Salon de la Guerre songs by himself, he has collaborated with artists such as producer Christian Montalbano, vocalist Christina E., and vocalist S. Scott on some tracks.
All 45 Salon de la Guerre albums were made at his home in New York City (additional drum tracks were recorded offsite). All songs by Eric Randolph Rasmussen, copyright 1993, 1996, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
